Recreational Soccer Registration

REGISTER ONLINE HERE FOR

GSA Spring Recreational Soccer

Recreational soccer is open to all players from age 3 through age 18.  A player’s age is determined by their age as of August 1 of the immediately preceding fall season.   A child who turns 3 after August 1 is not eligible to participate for the entire seasonal year (August – May).

There are no tryouts associated with recreational soccer and the costs are lower due to the use of volunteer coaches.  All games are played at the GSA Complex for U5 – U8 teams.  In age groups U10 and older, where GSA has less than six teams, travel to neighboring associations for games will be required.  Approximately 70% of games will still be played at the GSA Complex.

GSA’s three-year old players take part in a fun-filled program designed to introduce them to the sport of soccer.  This program is led by a professional coach on the weekend and lasts for seven weeks.  This is a program designed for parent interaction and though we strongly encourage parent participation, it is not required.  Four-year old players who are not yet ready for team competition are permitted to register for the three-year old program.

GSA is firmly committed to providing teams through a draft process to aid in developing teams of approximately equal strength and experience.  We perform the draft in the fall season and players are permitted to return to their teams in the spring.   In rare occasions where a team is much stronger than other teams in the fall, we may elect to redraft that age group in the spring season.  Despite the draft, we strongly encourage you to place preferences on your child’s application.  We cannot guarantee the placement of your choice, but we make every attempt to do so.

We encourage all players to register online.  The registration process is simple and allows us to easily place returning players on the correct teams.  As a convenience, you may pay by credit card (Visa or MasterCard) or debit card online.

As part of registration, there is a required $25 fee for Capital Improvement.  This fee goes directly to the improvement of our facility, fields and complex at Cole Rd.  In addition there is an optional box listed for those families who wish to make a donation to GSA that benefit our recreation programs.  GSA is a volunteer organization.  GSA appreciates your consideration and support of its program and members.

If you have questions or would like to register in person, the following walk-up registration dates are offered at GSA.  The GSA Clubhouse is located at 925 Cole Road, Lilburn, GA.

FAQs

Practice Days/Times
  • Practice days and times are determined by the head coach of your team but you can specify your preference during registration.  If you have conflicts with the day(s) selected by your team, please contact the Age Group Commissioner for your team (www.gsasoccer.com/officers)

Uniforms
  • GSA players in these age groups use a 2 jersey system and can play in the same uniform season after season. If you are new to GSA or you need a new uniform you will need to order a uniform directly from Krown Sports.  That link will be provided to you by early July.  Uniforms are shipped within a few days of their order and can also be picked up at the shop in Decatur near the Dekalb Farmers Market.   U4 players do NOT order uniforms.

Coaches/Team Parents/Other Volunteers
  • We are always in need to individuals to help with our programs.  If you are available to coach or assist in any way, please go online and register as a coach/assistant coach in a manner similar to the player registration.

Special Requests
  • Each season we receive special requests and we attempt to accommodate as many as possible. Especially at the younger age groups (U4-U8), we do everything possible to accommodate practice night preferences, car pool situations, etc.   Please note that although we cannot guarantee it, we encourage you to put your special requests in the section provided during online registration.

More Info

GSA is affiliated with Georgia Youth Soccer and US Youth Soccer. We have programs for both recreational and select players.   GSA has programs for players from age 3 through age 18.

Birth Certificates: When you register at GSA for the first time, you will need to provide a copy of the player's birth certificate.  You can bring the birth certificate to walk-up registration or fax it to GSA at 888-724-6516.

Uniform Package:
For the U5 and up age groups, we have implemented an upgraded uniform package.  The uniform package for these age groups will consist of 1 red jersey (home), 1 white jersey (away), a pair of black shorts and a pair of black socks.  These uniforms will be good for multiple years.  This will give our recreational teams that are inter-league schedules with other associations the ability to have a home and away uniform similar to the select teams.  It also eliminates the need to purchase a uniform every year if the uniform still fits the player.

Playing Up:  Players with an August birth date may play up one age group if requested on their registration form by their parent/guardian.  No additional approval is required.  If a player demonstrates exception skill in their own age group, they may apply to play up one age group.  A written request must be submitted by the parent/guardian along with the registration form.  Each request is subject to approval by the association.

Cancellation/Refund Policy:  GSA encourages players to register early to guarantee them a spot on the upcoming season.  If a player requests to cancel their registration at least three weeks prior to the start of the season (first scheduled game), GSA will refund all of the registration fee less a $35.00 processing fee.

If a player requests to cancel their registration less than 3 weeks prior to the start of the season, but before the first game, GSA will give a 50% refund of their registration fee.  If you register late and are assessed a late charge, the late charge is only refundable in the event GSA cannot place the player on a team.  Once a late registrant is assigned to a team, the late charge portion is non-refundable.

There will be no refunds after the start of the season (first scheduled game) and all refunds require the approval of the GSA president.

Please note that all requests for refunds must be submitted to GSA in writing either by mailing it to GSA at PO Box 210, Lilburn, GA 30048 or via email to info@gsasoccer.com.

Refunds will not be processed until the third week of the season due to time limitations of our volunteer staff.

Equipment: In addition to the uniform provided through GSA, each player should have the equipment that is listed below.

Schedule: Team formation will occur approximately 3 weeks before the start of the season.  Players who registered online will be notified via email as soon as their team assignment is complete.  If we do not have your email address on file, you will be notified via phone call.  GSA offers 2 seasons per year, a Fall Season and a Spring Season.

Fall Season
The Fall season will begin practice approximately the 3rd week in August and their first games are normally the 1st Saturday after Labor Day in September.  The youngest age groups (U4-U6) will begin one week later.  The season normally runs 9-10 weeks and will end mid November.

Spring Season
The Spring season will begin practice approximately the 3rd week in February and their first games are normally the first Saturday in March.   The season normally runs 9-10 weeks and will end mid May.

For games, players may wear cleated shoes that are designed for soccer or turf shoes. For players U12 and younger, all cleats must be molded into the shoe.  Please be aware that players are not allowed to play in baseball cleats or other cleated shoes that would contain a toe cleat.

Each player should bring a water bottle to all games and practice. Players should put their names on their water bottle

If you are registering a player at GSA for the first time, a copy of your child's birth certificate is required along with your registration form. Hospital, baptismal or other religious certificates are not acceptable.  If you are having a problem getting a copy of your child's official birth certificate, go ahead and send in your registration form now and make sure you provide us a copy of the birth certificate prior to the first game.  No player can be allowed to play in a game until we have a copy of his or her birth certificate.  You may mail the birth certificate to the address at the very bottom of this screen or fax the birth certificate to 888-724-6516.
