The Under 6 program is a first introduction to "competitive" soccer with players being placed on small coed teams with a maximum of six players/team.
In order to keep the competitive nature of the games to a minimum, teams play 3 vs 3 on a very small field that is well suited to their small legs and bodies. Referees are not used and coaches participate as a combination of "coach", "cheerleader" and "referee".
UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT NEEDS
All players are required to purchase a uniform once per year. If your team does not return for the spring season, GSA will provide a new uniform with no additional cost.
Players will also need to wear shinguards, provide their own ball and bring a water bottle. Cleats are not permitted during practices, but may be worn for games.
PROGRAM DATES AND DETAILS
Teams have just one practice for one hour each week for 10 weeks. This age group has 8-9 games with practices beginning the week of Labor Day in the fall and the first week of March in the spring. Games begin the second Saturday in September for the fall season and the second Saturday in March for the spring season.
