Under 8 is the first age group that separates the players by genders.
Teams play with rosters of 8 - 9 players and play games that are 5 v 5 with a goal keeper and are 12 Minute Quarters. This is the first time that will have a referee who manages the game and the Laws of Game begin to be enforced.
This is a very common entry period to soccer and team sports, but many players will have played in the U6 and younger age groups as well.
Teams are formed utilizing both assessments and player and coach requests in order to ensure as much parity as possible. Players are returned to their teams in the spring season.
UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT NEEDS
The uniform for this age group consists of a red jersey, a black jersey, black shorts and a pair of black socks. All first time U8 players must purchase a new uniform and will wear this uniform for as long as it fits regardless of the season or the age group played in.
All players should attend practices equipped with a ball and a water bottle. Cleats are permitted for games, but not for practices. Shinguards are required for all practices and games
