Under 8 is the first age group that separates the players by genders.
Teams play with rosters of 7 - 8 players and play games that are 5 v 5 with a goal keeper. This is the first time that will have a referee who manages the game and the Laws of Game begin to be enforced.
This is a very common entry period to soccer and team sports, but many players will have played in the U6 and younger age groups as well.
Teams are drafted in the fall in order to ensure as much parity as possible and players are permitted to return to their teams in the spring season.
UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT NEEDS
All players are required to purchase a uniform once per year and will be provided a uniform if they have to switch teams in the spring season for no additional fee.
Players should attend practices with a ball and a water ball. Size 3 soccer ball. Cleats may be worn for games, but may not be used during practices. Shinguards are required to be worn at all practices and games.
PROGRAM DATES AND DETAILS
Games begin the first Saturday after Labor Day and the first Saturday in March. Practices will begin two weeks prior to the first game and at this age, teams typically practice two nights/week.
